show and tell building communication
Round about 70 times we booked a bus to prepare the participants until we reach our destination.
Then we use the environment like any other inhabitant: by foot, public transport ...
and we try to make use of the city: We go shopping for a common picnic ...
to have it on an nice urban location.

Encouraged, we took part in an art-exhibition in a closed-down industrial hall.
We directed the visitor’s attention not only to the exhibit, but also to space
and the movement within. A satisfying moment was the ironic comment of the
very down-to-earth main sponsor: “and, thanks to archigraphus,
now we all know that rotten walls also can be art.”

The next step cost us quite an effort: Our city.
Explaining Aachen to Aachen-residents is a very dangerous job.
So we took the opportunity when simultaneously the department for urbanism
approached us to analyze an inner-city quarter and organizers
of the cultural-festival ‘across the borders’ asked for a kind of urban-event.

We combined both budgets and created in the township an exhibition of our
research-results, which was as well point zero for some playfully urban activities
with coloured ladders. We used them to change perspective as you can see on the slides.
At the end of this year all this will be summed up in book-publication.

We also took the idea to other locations, for example to Reims,
the twin city of Aachen, where we developed another exhibition
dealing with the analysis of both cities. Or to the Belgian-German border
in the forest between Aachen and Eupen, remembering old frontiers.

through this debate, how to handle urban-landscape,
we got the chance to build some constant archigraphical installations
in and around Aachen, always re-thinking the awareness of the spot
and its position in urban past presence and future.

The participation on the concept and the building of a 30 km long hiking-trail
between Aachen and Kerkrade, a promenade through an important Wilhelminian township,
reminding history and its contemporary influence
and two illumination-projects for railway-bridges are among the results.
